It’s mud season in Vermont. In this state we have almost 16,000 miles of roads and more than half of them are dirt. As you might imagine, mud season is a significant time of year in this part of the world. Heavy equipment is banned from all but the major roads and the dirt roads can, at times, be truly treacherous and impassable to all but the most rugged of vehicles. My favorite walk with my dog, Gretel, is on a dirt road. Today, it had been recently graded so relatively easy to walk, but the mud was definitely a part of the experience…
