Exhibits, Winter 2014

Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, 4th Floor Mall
January – March, 2014
Reception, February 11, 4:00 to 5:30

Here is a slide show of the images in this exhibit.  Most are printed on aluminum plate, but again there is a wall of ceramic tiles and a couple of images using a thin wrap process.

This is a big and exciting show for me for a couple of reasons.

First it is a large show spanning the length of the fourth floor Mall.  The lighting is great and it is in an ideal location where there’s a lot of foot traffic so that many people have the opportunity to see the work.

Second, and more importantly, I see my photography moving more in the direction of providing respite and renewal for people in health care (medical staff, patients and families).  This is my first large show in this context, but hopefully not my last.

I also have another set of five images currently hanging in the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth Hitchcock which will be up until the end of April.

Exhibits, Fall 2013

This Fall I’m delighted to be showing my photos in several different exhibits.  When I first began to display my photos in public I was constantly frustrated with how to display my images in a way that honored my process.  I was never satisfied with the traditional mat and frame treatment because it seemed to me that this required the viewer to work to see the image and often distracted from the image itself. I wanted the viewer to have a more immediate and direct experience of my photos.

With that in mind, I’ve made the decision to only show my photos in ways that don’t require additional trappings to hang and display the image.  For the exhibits this fall, my photos are printed either on float-mounted aluminum plates or ceramic tiles.

©Revealed Presence™ Photography, 2013 Photographer Carla Kimball has selected images for this exhibit that capture the beauty that surrounds
us in the utterly ordinary of daily life.  Carla’s intention is to help the viewer begin to see the world with new eyes. While there will be some scenic and landscape images included in this exhibit, most of the photos chosen for the show will offer a discovery of beauty in the mundane.

Previous exhibits

  • 20120106-_MG_2441Images of Irene – Telling Our Stories through Photos and Poems: Jan 6 – 21, 2012 – Artistree Gallery, Woodstock, VT:
This exhibit reflected the work of a group of six students who participated in a free photography class I taught in the Fall of 2012 entitled Telling Your Story through New Eyes. Over the course of our seven sessions we wove together photography, poetry (in a form similar to haiku), and stories to chronicle each person’s experience of Tropical Storm Irene.  The exhibit displayed both their visual and poetic narratives of the storm as well as images drawn from a variety of photography assignments from the class.  Check out my blog post about the opening of this exhibit.
  • Fine Work in Miniature: Dec 3 -23, 2011 – Artistree Gallery, Woodstock, VT:  This is a fun show where we’ve hung a set of 19 of my photography business cards (each with a different image) as a single piece.  There are lots of other great pieces by local artists.
  • Photostop Gallery Holiday Show: Dec 2 – 22, 2011 – White River Junction, VT:  The exhibit featured at the gallery this month is a fascinating set of photos by Neal Rantoul entitled “Lions, and Tigers, and Bears (Oh My!)”.  At the same time the gallery is selling works by four local photographers (including me) in the form of notecards, 2012 calendars, and my Revealed Presence Story Cards.
