Egret Couples

May 13, 2013

My favorite park in Florida has a White Egret rookery.  By this time of year they have paired up and seem to be waiting for eggs to hatch.  Here is one pair…

Coming to Fruition

January 5, 2012

The term Seva in the yoga tradition means to be of service.  After tropical storm Irene many Vermonters who weren’t directly affected by the flooding asked the question, how can I be of service?  How can I help?  My response has been to offer a free seven week photography/storytelling class to people in the community with the idea of putting on an exhibit at the end of the series

I’ve been working hard all this week with Artistree Gallery director, Adrian Tans (check out his website, he’s a really gifted visual artist himself) and several students from the class to hang this show.  Tomorrow is the opening reception  (for more info on the exhibit, check out my exhibit page) and the work of the past three months is now beginning to take shape in its final form.  I’m so pleased with how the gallery looks as each section gets hung on the walls.

For those of you not able to visit the gallery, here are a few shots that I took today to give you a sense of how this has come together.  You’ll see that each cluster has a poem surrounded by a set of photos.  The work you see here is a blend of several of the class photographers.

Question of the day…

When have you had the satisfaction of experiencing the successful completion of a project that had great meaning to you and was of service to others?

The Art of Showering

November 17, 2011

I visited my friend and colleague Jay Mead and his wife today and asked to see their shower (which I had been told by other friends was well worth seeing).  It’s quite spectacular and a tribute to Jay’s skill as an artist.  Check out his website for more on his work.

Question of the day…

How is your life a work of art?
